Overview

From doing a high-intensity workout to that extra cup of herbal tea, we all have given our head to toe efforts to stay fit and look good. But, how many of you have even given a thought about your kidneys? Yes, you’ve heard that right; your kidneys play a crucial role in keeping your body stable and healthy for the long run. If you aren’t aware of the pertinent jobs that your kidneys do, then you’ve landed on the right page.

If you’re reading this, then the chances are that you’ll save your name from the list of people battling kidney problems every day. If we go with the statistics, the prevalence of chronic kidney disease in India is around 17%, and it doesn’t seem to be slowing down right now. Seeing the fire around the corner, we take this call of duty to make people aware of the simple and effective home remedies that will help them to keep their kidneys strong and healthy. But before that, let’s learn some important jobs that your kidneys do to understand their significance in human anatomy.

Importance of kidneys in human anatomy

One of the significant functions that your fist-sized kidneys do is purify your blood from chemical intoxicants, pollutants, and chemical intoxicants required to be flush out from the body timely. But being nature’s best purifying system, there are pertinent roles that your kidneys do to keep your body healthy for the long run that include the following-

  • Your kidneys balance the levels of protein, calcium, phosphorus, potassium, salt, and other fluids inside the body.
  • Your kidneys regulate the production of red blood cells inside your body.
  • Your kidneys produce various hormones, including calcitriol, erythropoietin, and renin.
  • Your kidneys produce an active form of vitamin D that is imperative to keep your bones strong and healthy.

These are some of the significant functions that your kidneys do. People still don’t prioritize their health and are induced towards unhealthy eating that makes them prone to have kidney-related problems that can create some chronic health problems.

Causes of kidney problems

Many factors contribute to the growth of kidney problems that include the following.

  • Poor sanitation at public healthcare hospitals keep patients at higher risk of getting afflicted by germs, bacterias, and viruses that can bring some chronic health conditions ranging from mild to worse.
  • Low investment by the government on waste management that is imperative to prevent the spread of disease in your surroundings.
  • Regular ingestion of processed and high-in sodium foods that can cause some serious harm to your kidneys and other vital organs of your body.

Natural home remedies to keep your kidneys in good health

The chronicles of Ayurveda have mentioned the significance of a good diet that is imperative to maintain the equilibrium between the human doshas. According to Ayurveda, every human body is governed by three primary doshas that determine your mental and physical health that are-

Vata dosha
Vata dosha is considered as one of the most potent doshas that control your essential bodily functions like breathing, blood flow, heartbeats, bowel movements. This dosha can be imbalanced if you overeat, fear, sadness, grief, and stay up too late.

Pitta dosha
Pitta doshas control the production of certain hormones that are linked to your appetite (hunger). Pitta dosha also controls your bodily movements, metabolism, and digestion. It can be disrupted by eating spicy and high in sodium foods.

Kapha dosha
Kapha doshas control your strength, muscle growth, weight, stability, and your immune system. It can be disrupted by eating lots of sweets or when you sleep during the Day.

With simple ayurvedic remedies, we can re-establish the disrupted connection between the doshas to foster healthy recovery. These doshas can be disrupted by many factors like-

  • Regular ingestion of unhealthy foods
  • Stress and anxiety
  • Low physical activity
  • Overeating
  • Regular consumption of alcohol and tobacco

Here we have compiled some simple natural remedies that can help you to keep your kidney strong and healthy.

Eat right
According to reports, people who are obese, have type 1 or type 2 diabetes, and have high blood pressure are likely to suffer from kidney problems. If your name is on that list, you need to be a little apprehensive about your eating habits to maintain a healthy weight. Eat green leafy vegetables and fibrous foods to keep your kidney in good condition.

Workout regularly
Doing regular exercise can help you stave off high blood pressure, diabetes, and weight gain, which are the ground cause of triggering kidney problems. Regular exercise can keep your heart in good condition that promotes optimal functioning of your body.

Hydrate, but don’t overdo it
Contrary to the popular myth that drinking more water will promote your kidney’s health. But, no studies have confirmed overhydration can purge kidney disease, while it’s always a good thing to drink 6 to 5 glasses a day for better kidney functioning.

Quit smoking
Not your kidneys, but smoking can damage your overall health. It starts with causing damage to your blood vessels connected to the vital organs of your body like – brain, kidneys, heart, and of course, the lungs. Smoking hinders the blood flow leading to multiple organ failure.

Have coriander juice
The coriander juice for kidneys is an undeniably good and effective natural remedy that promotes smooth kidney functioning and helps you to purge common kidney problems like kidney stones, urinary tract infection, and chronic kidney disease.
