How to Reduce Protein in Urine by Ayurveda?

by Karma Ayurveda Health

in Proteinuria

In earlier times, kidneys were projected as the seat of emotion, yearning, and ethical activity. The kidneys were considered as the remark of a person’s personality and well-being. While with time, we learned that kidneys don’t shape our emotions, ethics, and personality, but they do share mighty importance in keeping us alive and functioning.

Your fist-sized kidneys are sitting on either side of the lower spine, behind your belly filters around 200 liters of blood every day, without any gap. Apart from that, they are also in charge of doing many different functions that are essential to keep you in good health, which include-

  • Filtering your blood from toxins, pollutants, fluids, and other excessive substances
  • Releasing certain hormones that controls your blood pressure
  • Controlling the production of red blood cells
  • Producing an active form of vitamin D that is essential to keep your bones strong and healthy
  • Holding protein from seeping out from the body via urine

Your kidneys are fragile to their environment; our body is an integrated creation designed possessed with kidneys and other primary organs to help you live a healthy life. Hence it’s your paramount responsibility to keep your kidneys healthy, which will reward you with good health and general well-being.

But your kidneys’ health is always at stake, and you’re not aware of that. Indeed, your body is well-protected against many infections and viruses because your immune system is working at its peak. But certain environmental and biological stresses can invade the territories of your body’s security and interfere with your kidneys’ functioning.

Today’s article is about proteinuria, a commonly reported renal condition that profoundly affects your kidneys to hold protein from seeping out from the body. To gain more insights about this, read till the end so that you can keep yourself away from the radar of having kidney complications that give a major hit to your health.

What is proteinuria?

Proteinuria is a condition in which your body hammers around 3 grams of protein every day through urine. In this condition, your urine has a higher concentration of protein than other substances, which indicates your kidneys are not working properly as they should. When kidneys are damaged, they lose their ability to prevent protein (albumin) from leaking from your blood into your pee. You can also develop proteinuria when your body makes an excessive amount of protein.

Can we detect proteinuria?

Proteinuria is a progressive loss of kidney function that happens gradually and gives visible signs of kidney function when it gets severe over time. A person suffering from protein loss in urine might feel visible symptoms of protein loss which include the following-

  • Having frequent bathroom visits
  • Having trouble catching breath
  • Loss of appetite
  • Nausea and vomiting
  • Swelling in belly, face, feet, or ankles
  • Severe muscle cramping at night
  • Having foamy or bubbly urine
  • Feeling puffiness around the eyes, mainly in the morning
  • Tiredness

How can we detect protein in urine?

If you consistently have foamy urine for more than six months, then there’s a possibility that your kidneys’ might have stopped working, which leads to the excessive loss of protein in the urine. Having a higher concentration of protein in the urine turns the urine foamy, but it’s necessarily important that your kidneys aren’t working well. Other factors can turn urine foamy which include the following-

  • Overconsumption of alcohol
  • If you’re holding urine for a longer period
  • Excessive intake of protein supplements
  • If you have high uric acid
  • When you strain more while passing urine

Therefore, it’s recommended to get your urine and blood sample tested before undergoing any medication or treatment.

What should CKD patients eat during protein leakage?

If you have recently been diagnosed with proteinuria, then you need to make some fixes and modifications in your diet to prevent your kidneys from getting further damage. Here we’ve two primary factors that CKD patients should follow to strengthen their kidneys’ functioning-

Kidney-friendly diet

Kidney patients are recommended to follow a kidney-friendly diet, which means you’re restricted from having certain foods and ingredients that contain sodium, magnesium, protein, and potassium. Kidneys, when damaged, loses their ability to expel such substances out from the body through urine. Consuming certain foods or beverages can severely damage your kidneys’ by making your kidneys overwork to expel excessive substances from the body. The main focus of this diet is to induce less pressure on your kidneys by adding certain foods that are low in potassium, sodium, protein, and magnesium.

Limit your carb intake

Obesity is the known cause of many chronic health problems, and with compromised kidney functioning, carrying excessive weight can bring a storm over your health. Kidney patients are strictly advised to avoid sugar and complex carbohydrates, such as pasta, cereals, fries, and flavored carbonated beverages. These foods can have a serious impact on your blood sugar levels, which can also affect your kidneys’ functioning.

Is there any cure for proteinuria?

If you’re heading towards allopathic medications, some medicines can prevent CKD progression at the end-stage but never cure it permanently. Also, such medicines are based on formulating several harmful chemicals that can leave mental and physical abnormalities in your body. For safe play, it’s recommended to switch to Ayurveda. Ayurvedic treatment consists of the best medicine for proteinuria that can effectively work on the root cause of the problem and ensure permanent recovery without leaving any side effects on the body.

Ayurveda has the best medicine for Proteinuria because the treatment uses a holistic approach to cure any kind of damage, infection, inflammation, or obstruction occurring in your kidneys and interfering with their functioning. Ayurvedic treatment has been gaining traction for the past few decades. The real reason is that the gift of holistic health that people are availing through Ayurveda outpaces many modern medicines, including allopathy.
